ASIST 2.0 (Patent Pending) is designed to provide operators with a streamlined workflow for assessing scale inhibition levels in Oil Field Produced Water (PW). Previously a tedious task requiring manual analysis and data processing, this process can now be completed within minutes. The previous generation has proven its usefulness in major fields in the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and the latest generation offers significant upgrades and improvements.
The cuvettes rotate through a station where a light beam is passed through the solution. Formation of scale, as a result of the addition of a stress test solution (e.g. 10,000 mg/L SO42- or Ba2+), will cause any scale particles to absorb light and thus cause a decrease of light intensity at the detector. As the instrument has both vertical- and horizontal light source and detectors, it can be configured to measure either. A third option is to utilize the vertical light source and horizontal detector as a particulate 90° scattered light detection method.
